OUT! CAUGHT! Lahiru Kumara's vigil comes to an end. Jadeja drops it fractionally short, on off. Kumara presses back to deal with it and has a jab at the ball. It spins back to catch the inside edge onto the pads. It pops up towards short leg, where Yashasvi Jaiswal stays low and sticks out the right hand to take a low catch. End of a 47-run stand. A bit of excitement around the bat and it is referred upstairs. The replays find Fernando to be safe. He did lose his balance as he reached out in front but had his back leg grounded inside the crease.

HUNDRED FOR SONAL DINUSHA! A wonderful, wonderful effort from the youngster. That's his 3rd Test century in just his fifth appearance in the longest format. Tears of joy in the eyes of his mother, who proudly watches his son make a mark for his country. The appetite for runs and to just stay out there is just amazing from a 25-year-old batter, that too, against a quality bowling lineup. Coming to the ball, this is full and angling into the batter. Sonal flicks it through mid-wicket and hustles back for the second run. Removes his helmet, and he holds his bat aloft to acknowledge the applause from his family, the crowd and his teammates. A knock that will be remembered for a long, long time to come. Sonal becomes the third Sri Lankan batter to score three centuries in a two-Test series. Aravinda de Silva and Kumar Sangakkara are the other two, with Aravinda having achieved the feat twice.

FOUR! Splits the gap and moves to 97! Pushed through, full on middle and leg, Sonal Dinusha gets low down on a knee and sweeps it between short fine leg and square leg for a boundary.

A bit of yes and no! Full on middle, sliding on with the arm. Sonal sweeps it fine towards the short fine leg fielder and looks to steal a run, but Siraj is quick to attack the ball and scores a direct hit but Sonal retreats back to the batting end just in the nick of time.

However, the ball then drops down. Jadeja lets out an appeal for caught behind, but for that, Pant needed to grab it cleanly. UltraEdge later shows daylight between bat and ball.

OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Prabath Jayasuriya just couldn't resist and fell into the trap. Fizzed through on a fuller length, around the off stump. Prabath Jayasuriya is lured on the front foot and tries to hammer it through cover, but only manages a thick outside edge as the ball turns sharply. Dhruv Jurel has very little time to react, but grabs a fine catch at gully, to his left. Dinusha, at the other end, drops his gloves in frustration as Sri Lanka are 355/8, leading by 142 runs.

Peach of a delivery! Slides into the batter and then turns off the pitch with some bounce. Prabath Jayasuriya gets half-forward to block but the ball just explodes and beats the outside edge en route.

Leading edge, but lands safely! Drops it full and outside the leg stump. Prabath Jayasuriya tries to play the flick to the leg side, but gets a massive leading edge and the ball bobbles up to the off side. Gill charges forward from cover but it lands in front of the Indian captain.

A touch fuller and drifting down leg. Jayasuriya tries to flick it again, but misses and gets struck hard on his front pad.

Oh, uppish but short! Siraj bashes it short and on the leg stump, around the ribs. It rises at an awkward height at the batter. Sonal Dinusha drags the bat in front by getting up on his toes and looks to block it down the pitch, but ends up fending it off the inside edge and the ball drops to the left of the short leg fielder.

FOUR! This is brave batting from Dinusha! And with that, 350 comes up for Sri Lanka! Bangs it short again, does Siraj, on the leg stump. Dinusha, unbothered, swivels and pulls it firmly towards deep backward square leg for a cracking boundary. Sri Lanka lead by 139 runs.

Steep bumper on the leg stump, Sonal opts to duck under it. Ahsan Raza signals one bouncer for the over.

Slams the pitch hard, and angles it across the southpaw, Sonal Dinusha just resists his temptation to poke by dragging his bat inside the line to leave.

Another effort ball by Siraj. Short and outside leg. Sonal Dinusha is happy to duck underneath it.

WIDE! That's a wild one from Siraj. Sprays it miles outside leg, full in length. Sonal ignores. The ball goes underground after landing. It goes on a couple of bounces as Pant dives to his right to collect.

Once again, he fires one down leg and Dinusha leaves it alone. This time it is ruled a fair delivery, leaving Dinusha looking a touch puzzled that it wasn't called a wide.

Dishes out a full ball that drifts in, Sonal Dinusha lunges ahead and tucks it into the leg side.

A huge appeal for LBW, but turned down! The impact looks fairly outside off. Pitched on a fuller length, around off, spinning in. Sonal goes for the premeditated reverse sweep, but plays over the wrong line and is struck on the front pad.

FOUR! Slammed into the gap! Really positive batting. Full from Jadeja, around off. Sonal Dinusha gets down on a knee for his favourite and most productive shot. Sweeps it over mid-wicket and beats Siraj to his right for a boundary. Dinusha moves to 70.

Full on middle, darted in, Sonal uses his feet and confidently dead-bats it.

On a fuller length, going straight on, Sonal Dinusha reverse sweeps it to deep third for a single.

Skiddy delivery, quick at 94.6 kph, Prabath Jayasuriya commits on the back foot and jams it to the off side.

Nicely negotiated. Fires it full and wide, Prabath leans forward and eases it to the point region.

Landing around the line of the off stump, on a length. Dinusha attempts the reverse. Gets a bit of bat on it before the ball thuds into the front pad.

At the sticks, on a nagging length. Sonal uses his feet and dabs it down the deck.

Very full, on leg. Dinusha takes it on the full and reverse paddles it down to deep backward point for a run.

Turn and bounce. At 87.4 kph, full and on off. Jayasuriya is drawn forward and gets his bat out in front. It lands and spins away sharply. It takes off as well and Rishabh Pant gathers it at head height to his right whilst staying side on.

On the shorter side, on middle, Jayasuriya has just blocked that from the crease.

On a good length, around leg. Sonal tucks it down the deck.

This kicks up a bit, on middle and leg. Sonal hangs back to stab it down.

A bit of hesitation but no harm done. Short and flat, at the hips, Dinusha nudges it behind square leg and there is a bit of yes and no between the two batters. Yashasvi Jaiswal goes after the ball from leg slip but does not quite commit to the chase and that allows the batters to complete the single. Shubman Gill is not happy one bit.

Attacking the front pad, Jayasuriya gets his bat out in front to defend.

Full and turning away a bit, on off. Jayasuriya blocks it off the front foot.

Goes past the bat. Floated up, full and outside off. Jayasuriya reaches across and pushes away from his body. He is lucky not to have nicked it behind.

Wow, that ripped past the blade. Slightly shorter, spinning away sharply from middle to off. Jayasuriya goes on the back foot to deal with it but is squared up to be beaten on the outside edge.

Pushes the length up now, does Suthar, on off. Jayasuriya strides forward for the block.

Goes into the deck, does Prasidh, at the ribs. Dinusha hops and nudges it behind square leg. The square leg fielder moves to his left and cuts it off.

A sharp bouncer at the helmet of the batter. Dinusha hurriedly ducks under it.

FOUR! In the gap. Krishna bashes the hard length, not much pace off the surface and Dinusha gets the width to free his arms. He hops to get on top of the bounce and cuts it to the right of the man at deep point for a boundary. The last boundary before this came in the 91st over.

Dug in short, tighter line at the batter. Sonal ducks.

Wide. Another bumper but this is too high.

At 136.9 kph, on a short of a good length. Sonal hops and drops it with soft hands in front of point. He sets off for the run before being sent back by Jayasuriya and rightly so, as the point fielder was quick to attack the ball.

Sprayed down leg by Krishna in a bid to prevent Dinusha from retaining the strike. Sonal lets it pass.

Flighted up, around off. India have kept the field open up on the off side, inviting the drive. Sonal uses his feet and gets to the pitch of the ball. Drives it through covers before Ravindra Jadeja gets around from wide long off and tidies up. There was a third on offer but Sonal wants to keep strike and settles with a couple.

Flatter and fractionally short, on off. Dinusha goes deep in the crease to keep it out.

A bit of air given, full and on off. Dinusha steps out and ends up getting too close to the ball. It grazes the toe end and rolls to leg slip.

Outside off, on a length. Sonal leans across and defends it.

Oh, that could have gone anywhere. Tossed up, around off. Dinusha goes for the reverse but it lands in the rough and spins back in to catch the inside edge onto the pads. It pops up off the front pad but lands safely on the pitch well away from the man at leg gully.

Quicker and flatter, on a good length. Sonal gets the reverse away this time and plays it to deep backward point. He keeps the strike with a single. Sri Lanka now lead by 122 runs.

Bangs it into the deck first up, on middle. Dinusha gets on his toes to fend it down.

Around the off stump, on a back of a length. Sonal stabs it down from the crease.

Wide. A proper bumper now by Krishna, Sonal ducks. It is deemed too high by the umpire. Prasidh is not happy with the call. 

Switches to over the wicket now, on a short of a good length, on off. Dinusha drops his wrists and lets the ball go. It does not rise much and goes on the bounce to the keeper.

Gets it high enough this time, does Krishna, around the left shoulder. Sonal gets on his toes and he initially looks to let it pass but then gets his hands high to pull it behind square leg for a single.

At 135.2 kph, slanting in at the hips. Jayasuriya hangs back and tucks it with soft hands on the bounce to short leg.

Sprayed down leg at 140.6 kph, Jayasuriya hops inside the line and lets it pass.

This is pushed across the off stump, on a length. Sonal lunges and drops it with soft hands beside the strip on the off side. Keshara Nuwantha is nearly halfway through before being sent back.

Floated up, on middle. Sonal sweeps it hard wide of square leg but Dhruv Jurel dives to his right to make a good stop.

Slower and the length is dragged back, on middle. Dinusha hangs back and nurdles it behind square leg for a run.

OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Early success after the break for India. End of Keshara Nuwantha's resistance. Just before this ball, Pant had asked Suthar to push it through, and the latter obliges. This is angled in on a good length around middle. Nuwantha lunges forward and brings his bat out in front, but he can't get to the pitch of the ball. It straightens off the deck with bounce and takes the shoulder of the blade. The ball lobs towards gully, where Dhruv Jurel gobbles it up. End of a 112-run stand. Sri Lanka are 330/7 with a lead of 117 runs.

Rappped on the pads! No reaction from the bowler but the men behind the bat but seemed interested. The height seemed to be an issue and Shubman Gill opted against the review. Landing around the line of the leg stump, on a good length and it spins away to square Prabath up on his defence before he is pinged on the back thigh. The Ball Tracking confirms that the ball would have gone over the stumps and Suthar felt so too.

Slips in the arm ball, outside off. Jayasuriya taps it down on the off side.

A bit of interest shown by Jadeja but it came off the bat. Flighted delivery, on middle. Sonal leans across to the off side and plays the reverse. It is a bit too full for the shot but he gets it away behind point for a single.

A prolonged shout for LBW, but turned down. India's desperation was pretty evident in that appeal. It pitched outside the line of the leg stump and was comfortably missing the stumps. Jadeja spears in a yorker from around the wicket. Nuwantha tries to get his bat out in front but cannot do so in time. Gets pinged on the left toe first, and then the ball hits the bat.

Full and attacking the front pad. Nuwantha lunges for the block.

Trying to get the ball to spin from leg to middle, on a nagging length. This goes on with the arm, at the pads. Nuwantha stabs it down on the leg side.

Given LBW but successfully overturned. Drama in the closing stages of the session. Jadeja angles it in from around the wicket, on a good length, outside off. Nuwantha pads it away. A confident shout and the finger is raised, but hang on, Nuwantha has reviewed it. No shot offered by the batter, but did it come back enough? The Ball Tracking shows that the ball did not come back in with the arm and instead straightened a bit to miss the off pole comfortably.

A bit of turn, slower through the air, outside off, on a length. Nuwantha pads it away, and it brushes the front pad before going towards slip. That will be Lunch on Day 5.

Angles it in a full ball, at the sticks. Nuwantha brings his bat out in frotn and is solid in defence.

Fires it in full, attacking the front pad. Keshara plays around his front pad as he wrists it to mid-wicket.

Slower and fuller, sliding across the off stump with the angle. Nuwantha pushes it away towards point for a run.

A beauty by Suthar. Full and inviting the batter on the front foot, around off. Nuwantha leans across to smother the spin but it rips past the outside edge.

More air given, full and on off. Nuwantha gets to the pitch of the ball this time by getting a good stride in and drives it to deep cover for one. Sri Lanka now lead by 110 runs.

Looped up, on off. Sonal steps out and almost yorks himself. Digs it out to long on and gets to the other end.

At 83.8 kph, stays full, on off. Nuwantha knocks it to cover.

Slower than the previous ball and Suthar hangs it up there, on off. Nuwantha pushes slightly at the ball as he stabs it down on the off side.

Darts in a full ball, around off. Nuwantha digs it out to cover.

Flat and on a good length, on off. Nuwantha steps out and nudges it on the bounce to short leg.

Full and on middle, going across with the drift. Nuwantha sweeps it to square leg.

Doing too much? Jain gives the ball a bit of air, on a length, on middle and leg. Nuwantha is neither forward nor back and plays all around it to get hit on the front pad. There was no real conviction in the appeal and Jain indicated that it would have spun past the leg stump. The Ball Tracking later shows that the ball was going on to clip the leg pole. It would have been umpire's call.

Dragged down, on off. Nuwantha punches it past extra cover and crosses over.

Looped up, around the pads. Nuwantha takes the risk of going against the turn as he closes the bat face, looking to turn it away on the leg side. The ball does not turn much and the batter is able to work it through square leg for one.

Bowled by going wide on the crease, on a good length, on middle. Nuwantha hangs back to defend.

Around the off stump, fuller in length. Nuwantha reaches out in front to smother the spin.

Short and a bit of turn into the pads. Nuwantha goes on the back foot and nurdles it behind square leg for one.

Floated up, on middle. Dinusha reaches out in front and sweeps it wide of deep mid-wicket. With this single, the 100-run stand comes up between these two batters. According to on-air commentators, this is the second time a Lankan pair has put on a century stand for the 7th wicket against India in Tests.

Full and around off, Nuwantha wrists it to mid-wicket.

Across the off stump, on a length. Nuwantha brings his bat out in front but is beaten past the outside edge as the ball leaves him with the angle.

Single taken, and that will be a FIFTY for Sonal Dinusha. What a find this 25-year-old has been for Sri Lanka, and his father is watching on from the stands. He is new to Test cricket, but he has shown great maturity. Short and across off, Sonal taps it through point and takes a single.

Darted in full and on off, that is defended solidly off the front foot.

Nearly sneaked through. Speared in full and on middle. Nuwantha plays for the turn as he lunges for the block but this slides on with the arm. He just about manages to eke out an inside edge onto the pads. It drops well in front of gully.

Full and targeting the off pole. Keshara leans forward to block it out.

Full and angled in at the pads. Nuwantha clips it in front of square on the leg side for a single.

Very full, on middle. Dinusha jams down on the ball.

Landed short and on off, Sonal Dinusha backs away to create room and cuts it to the left of deep backward point for a couple of runs.

Tossed up nicely, full on middle, 95.4 kph. Sonal Dinusha comes forward and carves it to mid on.

Flatter now, full on the leg stump, Sonal defends it to short mid-wicket.

Incredible batting! And with that, the lead for Sri Lanka is now 101 runs. Drops it short and drifting across the batter. Sonal Dinusha rocks back and punches it to the deep cover region. The sweeper moves to his left and by the time he picks and throws it to the keeper, the batters cross for the third run easily. Dinusha moves to 49!

FOUR! Off the inside edge. Three fours in a row for the Lankans. Comes over the wicket. Landing on a length that grips and bounces sharply down leg. Dinusha is drawn forward to block, but the ball catches the inside edge onto the front thigh pad and loops away between Pant and Padikkal at leg slip. Padikkal flings himself to his left but cannot get to it, and the ball scoots away toward the deep fine leg fence.

Down the leg side, spinnng further down. Left alone. Pant grabs it to his right.

FOUR BYES! Sri Lanka go past 300 and the lead is now 89 runs. Spinning back in sharply, down leg, and it kicks up off the deck. Dinusha tries to nudge it away but is beaten all ends up. Rishabh Pant is beaten, as is Devdutt Padikkal at leg slip, who stands no chance.

Full and in front of the sticks, Keshara Nuwantha presses forward and firmly defends it to the off side.

Outside off on a good length, 127.9 kph. Keshara offers no shot.

A celebrappeal for caught behind. Siraj pleads and keeps pleading but Ahsan Raza is unmoved. Shubman Gill does not immediately but eventually goes upstairs for a review. Has the bat hit the ground? Yes, it has. UltraEdge shows a flat line when the ball is next to the outside edge, but it does show a spike when the ball grazes the ground. Another excellent piece of umpiring from Raza. Coming to the delivery, this is very full and swinging away a bit, outside off. Keshara Nuwantha tries to smash it through covers, but misses as the ball carries through to the keeper. This will only add to India's frustrations this morning.

On a length, outside off, left alone.

FOUR! Uppish but into the gap! A tad fuller and outside the off stump. Keshara Nuwantha frees his arms and slices it behind point for a boundary.

FOUR! Pleasing to the eyes! Fuller in length, outside off again. Keshara Nuwantha takes a good stride forward, presents full face of the bat and absolutely creams it through the cover and mid off gap for a cracking boundary. Nuwantha is proving his credentials brilliantly with the bat. The lead for Sri Lanka swells to 79 runs now.

A ripper by Jain. Drifting in, on a good length in line with the off stump. Dinusha brings his bat out in front to block it off. It drops on the batter and spins away sharply past the outside edge, kicking up as well with a puff of dust.

Full and speared in on middle. Sonal sweeps it behind square leg and takes a single.

Slows it down and it is shorter but the line is down leg. Nuwantha misses out on the glance.

Looped up, around the pads. Nuwantha lunges to tuck it away but is beaten by the turn. The ball pops up off the front pad and lobs over the head of the man at leg slip. They cross.

Flat and short, on off. Sonal blocks it off from the crease.

Draws the batter forward, does Saransh, fuller in length, on middle. Sonal smothers the spin.

Angled into the left-hander, on middle. Dinusha pivots on the back foot for the pull but the ball is not all that short. Ekes out an inside edge onto the thigh pad. It drops to the left-hander's right and he is called through for a single.

Hits the top of the off stump, does Krishna. Nuwantha covers the line and is solid in defence.

Full and straight, attacking the stumps, pushed back towards the bowler by Nuwantha. Krishna shows a bit of aggression as he fakes a throw at the batting end.

Prasidh switches to around the wicket and sets the field for the short ball with a short leg and a leg gully in place. This is on a back of a length, on middle. Nuwantha hangs deep in the crease, expecting the short ball. He plays all around it and gets rapped on the pads. A leg bye is taken as the ball goes behind point.

Risky single attempted but Dinusha gets away with it. Fuller and on off. Sonal extends his hands and plays a punchy drive wide of cover before scampering through for a single. Yashasvi Jaiswal picks the ball up cleanly and has a shy at the bowling end but misses as the ball bounces over the stumps. It could have been close had the throw hit.

Bowled on a good length, on middle. Nuwantha stabs it down the pitch.

Serves it very full, on off. Nuwantha gets his bat down and squeezes it past cover. The new ball skips across the turf before Ravindra Jadeja hunts it down with a slide as the batters pick up a couple.

FOUR! Well played. Prasidh goes searching for the yorker but ends up dishing out a low full toss, on middle. Nuwantha presents the full face of the bat, and even though the bat turns in his hand, he manages to drive it to the left of mid on and pick up a boundary. Sonal Dinusha applauds from the other end. Sri Lanka's lead is now 63.

Full and drifting onto the pads, a little too straight. Dinusha leans across and hangs low to play the paddle with the angle. Gets it fine of deep fine leg but it is cut off by Prasidh Krishna. A couple of runs taken, and with that, Sri Lanka's lead is now 51.

Attacking the front pad, on a length, Sonal paddles it behind square leg and rotates the strike.

Drags the length back now, on off. Keshara punches it off the back foot to the man at a deep mid on and takes a quick single.

OUT! LBW! This looks pretty straight and it has been given by the umpire. Niroshan Dickwella has reviewed it, though. It is the arm ball by Jain from around the wicket, full and landing around off. Dickwella gets half-forward to defend but the ball comes in with the arm to go past the inside edge and he gets hit low on the front pad. After pinging the front pad, the ball made contact with the inside edge, and perhaps that made Niroshan feel that he had gotten an inside edge. There is daylight between the bat and the ball and there is no need for UltraEdge, says the third umpire. Three reds on Ball Tracking with the ball crashing into the leg stump. The impact seemed to be outside the line there. Dickwella pre-empts the sweep but the ball is too full for the shot and it sneaks under the blade to catch him on the boot. Tossed up, on off, this one grips and turns. Sooriyabandara gets to the pitch of the ball and punches it to cover.

Sooriyabandara was unfazed, and he overturns the LBW call. The arm-ball from Suthar, landing it on off and getting it to dart back in. Pasindu Sooriyabandara goes down for the big sweep but misses and gets hit on the pad. There is a loud appeal for LBW, and up goes the umpire's finger. Pasindu Sooriyabandara reviews it immediately. This could be make-or-break for Sri Lanka. UltraEdge confirms that there is an inside edge and Pasindu survives as the decision is changed to Not Out.

OUT! STUMPED! Oh, my! That is a brain fade moment from someone who has been so much in control so far and Pasindu Sooriyabandara has only himself to blame. Sooriyabandara is a bit early to come down the track and Manav Suthar sees him coming. Suthar fires it full and wide outside off and Sooriyabandara is well beaten. Rishabh Pant reaches to collect the ball and whips off the bails. Sooriyabandara departs in the 90s and that could be a huge wicket in the context of the game. Also, before this ball, Rishabh Pant was heard on the stump mic alerting the mid-on fielder as he sensed a big shot coming. Pasindu did give the charge for that but got outsmarted by the bowler.

OUT! CAUGHT! A bit unlucky that, and Dhananjaya de Silva is dumbfounded. Manav Suthar pulls the length back, bowling it flatter on off. De Silva presses back to work it on the leg side but does so against the turn. The ball holds its line and catches the inside edge, going on to hit the back leg and then lobs up in front of gully. Devdutt Padikkal lunges to take the catch and another brewing partnership is broken. Suthar has been expensive but gets a crucial wicket, as Sri Lanka still trail by 4 more runs.
