WIDE! Shardul keeps flirting with the guideline and serves it beyond it, on a fuller length. Rajat Patidar goes for a slog sweep by shuffling a long way across but misses. Wide called.

 FOUR! Not from the middle of the bat, but enough! A juicy full toss on the stumps. Rajat heaves it across, but does not time it well. Still, he finds the gap at deep mid-wicket and deep square leg for a boundary.

WIDE! Again, it is served far outside the tramline, on the off side. Rajat ignores. 

WIDE! Rajat has managed to put the bowlers off their lengths in just a handful of balls. Short and slow, sitting up wide outside off. Patidar fancies his chances, goes hard at it, and misses completely. The umpire takes a moment, then spreads his arms wide. 

 SIX! The ball is just going the distance! Full and wide again, outside off. Patidar frees his arms and slices it over backward point for a big six.

WIDE! Slower bouncer, angling away outside off. Patidar gets onto his toes and looks to slash it away, but the ball is well above his head. 

Wide full toss, Patidar slaps it through cover for a single.

Much fuller and outside off, Virat Kohli carves it past point and hares back for the second.

Pushed full and on leg, Virat advances and flicks it to widish long on for a single.

 SIX! Shouts of 'catch it', but it has gone a long, long way into the stands! Full and on middle, Rajat Patidar lets the ball dip, gets low and slogs it cleanly over deep mid-wicket for a big six.

 SIX MORE! And again! Patidar goes big. Pitched full again, on off. Rajat Patidar sits down and sweeps it aerially. Loses his balance and falls over on the pitch, but manages to power the ball into the crowd behind deep square leg. Patidar rushes to 16 from just 3 balls.

 SIX! Hat Trick of sixes for the RCB captain! Mayank floats one full and outside off. Rajat Patidar reverse sweeps it, and with no intention to keep it down, clears the deep third fence for a six.

Dot ball, rare! Low full toss, outside off. Patidar smashes it away, but straight to cover.

Low full toss again, around off, Rajat drills it down ot long off for a single.

WIDE! Tries to keep it away from the arc, but throws it beyond the tramline on the off side. Kohli looks to squeeze it out, but misses.

WIDE! Similar line and length, goes outside the guideline. Kohli, this time, stays put and throws his bat at it, but misses to get the connection.

Kohli shuffles a bit to the off side as Shardul nails the wide yorker. Virat fails to shovel it out.

Low full toss, outside off. Virat Kohli smashes it straight down the ground and it crashes on the stumps at the non-striker's end. It deflects away to long off and they get a couple of runs.

OUT! HIT FLAT AND GONE! Shardul again, with his golden arm, strikes in his first over. Looks at the heavens in relief. He hurls in an overpitched delivery and keeps the line of attack outside the off stump. Phil Salt does not get properly under it, in an attempt to smash it over cover, and ends up hitting it flatly off the bottom end toward Hardik Pandya. The MI skipper takes a step back and takes a sharp catch over his left shoulder at the edge of the ring. Breaks the 120-run opening stand of RCB.

 FOUR! No sighters needed. That is a glorious hit. Full and outside off, Rajat walks outside the crease, gets under the ball and thumps it over the mid off fielder for a boundary to open his account in style. Nonetheless, a successful over for Shardul and MI.

Good fielding in the deep. A wide yorker, Salt squeezes it out firmly to the left of deep point, where Mayank Markande runs across the turf quickly and cuts it off, keeping it down to a brace.

Swing and a miss! Back of a length, over off stump, Salt looks to hang back and have a swipe across the line but the ball stays a shade low and beats the bat.

SIX! This time Salt does connect. Full toss on the pads, Phil Salt is taken by surprise but manages to whip it off the pads and the ball flies over deep square leg for a six.

Did that carry? Superb effort from Trent Boult, but he's actually collected the ball on the half-volley and doesn't even appeal for the catch. Pandya bowls it on a length around off, Phil Salt looks to lift it all the way over deep cover but miscues it badly. The ball goes over the infield as Boult comes charging in and puts in a slide to pouch the ball with both hands. Just a single.

Oh, nearly a run out. Dug in short over middle, Virat Kohli reaches for it and pulls it towards deep mid-wicket for a run. Salt thinks the second run is on and sets off but Kohli sends him back. Tilak Varma fires in a throw towards the keeper but Salt dives and makes it in before Ryan Rickelton dislodges the bails. However, Salt seems to have hurt himself in the process.

A dot to finish, still 10 runs off it. Full and outside off, Salt drills the cover drive straight to the man at cover.

A bit more round-arm, ends up being a low full toss outside off. Kohli pats it down to mid off.

Flighted ball on off, Kohli goes for the slog-sweep but ends up dragging it towards long on. The ball falls in front of Suryakumar Yadav in the deep and Kohli picks up a single.

Slower through the air, shorter as well, Salt cuts it to deep point and turns the strike over.

FOUR! Full and straight, Virat Kohli uses the bottom hand well and whips the on-drive back past the bowler and with immense power to pick up a boundary. 100 comes up for RCB, in just 8.4 overs!

On a length, wide outside off, just inside the tramline. Kohli watches it all the way and opts to leave it. It is called a fair delivery but Kohli has reviewed it for a wide. The third umpire has a look and finds that some part of the ball is inside the guideline, FAIR DELIVERY.

FOUR! Oh, a valiant effort in the deep, will go down as a DROPPED CHANCE. This is tossed up by Santner, on the stumps as well. Virat Kohli sits down to play the big slow sweep and ends up hitting it flat and wide of deep mid-wicket, where Naman Dhir runs around and springs across to his left but only gets a hand on it. The ball goes for a boundary.

FOUR! No margin for error and up comes the FIFTY for Phil Salt. This is his 11th IPL half century and he gets there in just 25 balls. Just marginally short on middle, Salt picks the length early, rocks back and hoicks it wide of long on for a boundary.

FOUR! Excellent placement. Quicker through the air, on a length and just outside off. Salt presses back, plays the cut late and hammers it through backward point for another boundary.

FOUR! Make it a hat-trick of boundaries. Good length on off, just slides onto the bat. Salt gets leg side of the ball and powerfully punches it past the diving cover fielder's left for four more runs.

SIX! Oh, this is carnage from Phil Salt. Markande shifts his line straighter but bowls it short and right in the hitting arc. Salt hops onto the back foot and pulls it handsomely in front of square leg for a biggie.

A bit slower, floated up on the pads, nudged away 'round the corner on the leg side for a run.

Full on middle and leg, Kohli gets on one knee and sweeps it down to deep mid-wicket for a single.

Slower through the air, a touch short and outside off. The ball turns away and Kohli taps it straight to cover.

Fractionally short again, outside off, smacked away square through the off side for a single.

Should have been put away. A full toss, just outside off, Salt hangs deep in the crease and just flat-bats it down to long off for one more.

That's nicely bowled. Tossed up, on a dragged length and outside off, turns away a bit as well. Kohli goes chasing after it but gets beaten.

Oh, lucky for the batter. Flighted again, very full and on the fifth stump line. Kohli looks for a cover drive but gets it off the cue end of the bat and the ball goes past the off pole and the keeper for a single towards fine leg.

Excellent comeback over from Santner, just 4 off it. Floated up, shorter and outside off, cut away in front of point for a single by Salt.

Bullseye from Mitchell Santner, keeping the non-striker on his toes. A straight yorker from Bumrah, Kohli jams it into the turf and towards mid on. Phil Salt wanders out of his crease but is sent back by Kohli and he gets back in time.

Full again, on the pads, flicked away wristily down to long leg for a single.

Back of a length over middle, Salt backs away a bit and nudges it down just to the right of short third.

Full and on the pads once again, Salt clips it away firmly and to the right of deep square leg for a couple of runs.

WIDE! Attempted slower bumper, around off, just a tad too high and Salt lets it go.

Another slower one, into the pitch and over middle, Salt tries backing away but ends up nudging it down in front of mid-wicket for a single.

Oh, that's flown to the fielder in the deep. Too full, angling down leg, Kohli flicks it down to fine leg and the fielder does well to make a sharp stop, keeping it down to a single. At the end of the Powerplay, RCB are 71/0.

SIX! Greeted with a biggie! Short from Santner, on the stumps, with a bit of in-drift. Phil Salt stays dead-still and pulls it over deep square leg, dumping it into the Vijay Merchant Stand for a six.

 SIX! That is MASSIVE! Floated fuller and on middle. Phil Salt clears the front leg, lets the ball to dip and then smokes it over wide long on for a mammoth six. Two in two for Salt.

 SIX! Salt is bossing Santner at the moment! Drops it short on middle. Phil Salt uses the drift and the depth of the crease to his benefit and executes the pull shot into the stands, behind deep square leg. Hat trick of sixes. 

 FOUR! Runs are hemorrhaging at Wankhede! Keeps it really full and slow, wide outside off. Phil Salt gets down on his knee and slogs it to the right of the mid on fielder for a four. 22 runs already from 4 balls.

That was traveling as well, had there been no protection. Down leg on a fuller length. Salt slogs it to short fine leg and finds the fielder.

Hardik spots Kohli advancing, and bashes the length hard, keeping the line of attack on the body. Virat Kohli adjusts well to it and taps it in the cover region for a run.

We are underway in Mumbai with a quick single from the bat of Phil Salt. Trent Boult hits the hard length first up, around middle and leg, Salt stays leg side and pushes this in front of the fielder at mid on and takes a quick single to get off the mark. The throw did come towards the non-striker's end and rattled the stumps with a direct hit but the batter was safely in.

On a length, around middle and leg, swinging back into the batter. Kohli looks to work this around the onside but gets beaten and is hit on the thigh pad.
